How to Easily Add Keyword Rich Content to Your Site

No matter what any one may say about getting your site into the top of a search engine with easy tricks or gimmicks the truth is you need quality keyword rich content in your website.  Yes, having authority links is extremely important to how your site is ranked by the engines.  But think about this, if you had no text on your site that search engines could see, lets say you had all your text in images or flash, even though your site would have authority in the eyes of the search engines they wouldn’t know what words to rank you for.  You have to provide that useful information by having keyword rich content in your pages. 

The more informative text content that you have on the site the better your chances will be to rank for desirable keywords.  But adding quality content to your website isn’t necessarily an easy task for most people.  You could hire a professional content writer or an SEO firm experienced with content creation, but with a little effort any one can easily add quality content to their own site.

If you are writing content for your website yourself then make sure you are writing on topics that you are familiar with.  You don’t need to already be an expert on a topic to write about it, but you will need to do some research before you begin writing.  I can’t tell you how many times I have had to write lengthy pieces on deathly boring topics such as tax law articles or blog entries for medical service websites.  The key to writing on a topic your not familiar with is to find easy to understand sources to read before you begin writing.  My best advice on researching a topic is to look it up on Wikipedia, there you will find ample information on almost any topic and usually you can also find links to other informative sites to use in your research.  After finding ample reading material I usually print it out, then read it over and highlight anything I think would be important to include in my own writing.  I also always keep a pen nearby so that I can write ideas and topics out on the printed out papers.

After you’ve done your research its time to begin writing.  But before you actually start writing the text you should put together at least a basic outline of topics you want to cover.  That way you will have a guide to help you through the actual writing process. 

Now the point again of writing this content is to help your site rank well for targeted keywords.  You want to make sure the keywords you are targeting appear frequently in the text. Usually when I am trying to write a keyword optimized piece I will print out a list of keywords I want to include and keep that list right next to my computer so that I am reminded to include those terms as many times as possible.  It is much easier to write a piece that already has a good keyword density then it is to try and add keywords once it’s already written.

Although writing original content is a great way to add more text to your site, you should also consider looking for free sources of content.  There are hundreds, if not thousands, of article directories that are full of free articles that only require you to link back to the source.  Although these free articles may seem like a great way to add dozens of pages of content to your site, often times the search engines will see these pages as duplicate content and remove them from the SERPs.  Unfortunately most of these free content sources require that you do not modify the content, so my advice would be to add summaries or other commentary either above or below the free article.  This way the search engines will see that your page is different from the original source and won’t flag your page as a duplicate.

Once you’ve finished with your piece of content upload it to your site and make sure that page is well linked to from the rest of your site.  That way the search engines crawl and rank your new optimized content as soon as possible.
